Riverina EEC will be offering ‘Treasure Trackers’ as a stage 3 HPGE program in term 3 of 2025.
This program is designed to immerse students in orienteering within our stunning bushland setting. Participants will begin by learning to navigate using a baseplate compass and Garmin GPS units to locate cache boxes. Each cache will contain a puzzle or a multi-step activity that leads them to the next waypoint. Students will collaborate in teams of four, enhancing their teamwork and critical thinking skills as they navigate the course. Throughout their journey, they will document their experiences both on a map and through photography using iPads, creating a visual record of their adventure.
Student activities will include the following:
- Searching for 'Riverina Ghosts' – silhouettes representing endangered wildlife native to our area
- Solving a range of mathematical problems
- Deciphering codes in the Wiradjuri language
- Conducting a scientific experiment and using the results to solve a puzzle
- Tackling logical challenges in an escape room to unlock a key lock combination
