Ecosystem explorers

Ecosystem Explorers is a biodiversity and adaptation study focusing on the box gum grassy woodland ecosystem and the secret life of squirrel gliders.

This program explores some of the following 'Big Ideas':

  • A diverse range of living things have evolved on earth over hundreds of millions of years; this process is ongoing.
  • Biological systems are interdependent and interact with each other and their environment.
  • Consumers, producers and decomposers interact within a habitat and food chains represent feeding relationships.
  • The form and features of living things are related to the functions that their body systems perform.
  • Particular structural features and behaviours of living things enable their survival in specific habitats.

This study complements Desert Survivors from the Primary Connections series (Classic sequence). It also links well with Sustain the Chain in the new sequence from Primary Connections.
