About this program
This program will be led by REEC staff, and will differ qualitatively from any previous ‘minibeast’ program conducted by REEC in the following ways:
- Students participating in this program will learn how to use a microscope and a classification key to closely observe and accurately identify insect orders.
- Students conduct an aquatic macroinvertebrate survey to score the ‘health’ of the water, based on the number of tolerant and sensitive aquatic ‘water bugs’ present.
- Students create scientific drawings of insect specimens
